Description

3 Weeks down the road we get all of our players off IR and sign Quinn Hughes. Lets take a look at lines:

Pretty clear on defense and between the pipes. We send down Biega or Pouliot when we sign hughes, if everyone is healthy.. I vote Pouliot.

At forward its not so clear. The obvious choices are Gaudette (ELC) and Schaller to bury as he hasnt done much. But after that its a difficult choice, you run risking Granlund or Goldobin on waivers or you upset a player with term like Sutter or Eriksson. Either a newly aquired player in Spooner or Pearson may be more likely if they dont fit in. Its tough to say which way Benning ends up going, but who am I kidding, someone else will probably just get hurt in the mean time. My vote is Spooner.

That right defence looks mighty weak across the NHL and prospect pool. Good luck drafting them when they're 5 LD to 1 RD in the upper end of draft rankings. Inquire about Zaitsev

Not sure anyone wants to take that Zaitsev contract with that amount of term, no thanks. Plenty of RHD available in the second round of this years draft early in the round. Canucks can definitely draft one of them with their second round pick, or even Victor Soderstrom with our first. Few RHD available in Free Agency as well, Im sure Benning will figure it out.

My guess is Niskanen will be available at the draft. Caps need to shed salary to resign Vrana, Connolly and Burakovsky. Nisky is steady, a big minute muncher but deteriorating. A 2nd and Goldobin gets him. Or how about Burakovsky and Niskanen for Goldobin and Virtanen?
