Offseason After TDL

Created by: tomkinoo
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 26, 2019
Published: Feb. 26, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Used 11.97 % of the cap for Marner's contract for a 6 year, Kane was 11.09 % on a 5, Nylander's was 11.08 % on a 6. See this post for a more detailed breakdown:

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1024463

Ozhiganov goes back to play in the KHL

Girardi comes back home, lightning can't afford to resign everyone, probably choose Stralman over him

Johnsson and Kapanen deals are 2 years instead of 3, Brown took 2.1 mil x 3 and also scored 20 goals in his rookie season ...

Ottawa needs to hit the cap floor, they need to pay someone, and Zaitsev could be a good partner for Chabot.

lol I'd rather give up one of him or Joseph Woll than giving away a Bracco/Rosen/Moore/Petan/SDA. We're going to need those guys to fill out the bottom of our roster for cheap, whereas between Andersen/Sparks and Woll or Scott, I think our goalie situation will be stable for the foreseeable future

I think Zaitsev can be moved... but I HIGHLY doubt that Ottawa of all teams would accept that trade without a 2-4th coming through.

Good goalie prospects are always a good thing to hold onto, if we lose Scott, 100% relying on Woll to replace Andersen in... 5-7 years. Goalies typically take a llllong time to develop. Both Scott and Woll likely 4-6 years away from making the NHL IF they even do... best to hold onto both? no?

the leafs sucked when they took Dion, now every team knows that they'd be doing the leafs a HUGE favour in taking Zaitsev off their hands, I personally don't see it happening unless a pick is coming back like I said. But who knows, Ottawa has to hit the cap floor next year so they might take him.
