I don't think this team can compete with that defense. I like the rest of the moves though.

I think the hawks are going to be much more active than this in the offseason. Two years in a row missing the playoffs is painful and I'm sure they have a blueprint in place of what they want to do to get better.

I don't disagree, but highly unlikely the Hawks invest in defense with Mitchell, Boqvist, Krys, Carlsson and Beaudin all being ready in the next year or 2. Everything I'm reading and hearing is they are focused on offense for the draft and for free agency and will let the defense develop. Gus is playing better defensively, Murphy is looking very solid, Jokiharju will be better next year. The biggest liability this year has been all the players rotating as the 6th man (Forsling, Dahlstrom, Koekko). If Mitchell can plug the 6th man hole and Jokiharju with another year under his belt, the defense will be better next year; albeit mediocre at best.

Everyone has to remember the expansion draft is the following year so you can only protect so many players (Kane, Toews, Strome, Debrincat, Jokiharju, Keith, Seabs and 1 big free agent name) so I don't see them making a ton of big moves.

I think they grab 2 offensive guys with 1 a top 2 line guy and the other a bottom 2 line guy. Either both will be free agents or 1 free agent (Dzingel as it's a long shot for Panarin) and 1 bottom 6 guy via trade.

Dzingel said there's a strong possibility he re-signs in Columbus. I wouldn't doubt the Kane-Panarin bromance, they're very close buddies.

New York is the clear front runner for Panarin and Florida is close behind.

Yes, but neither team has a 90+ point player. It's going to be an interesting offseason for sure.

Arty deal is probably too little, but it's the Sens. I think he's worth a 3rd and a midlevel prospect or just a 4th. Wennberg deal is a bargain for the Hawks.
