The leafs come out the other end significantly weaker

I agree but i find people are talking about how the leafs need to make cap space & crush the deal. In reality i dont see how thats possible. I dont like the CBJ deal as there is 0 need from both sides for it but the Leafs need to shed space and in order to do that they are going to most likely be weaker for 2019-2020

They’re obviously going to be weaker next year but the year after they’re going to peak and they need to make sure that occurs.

Actually it is one of the very very few Zaitsev trades that makes sense. Leafs need immediate cap space and this trade does it. And Andersson and his 1.8m contract has 22 goals this year, more than Nylnader has even had. I'm wondering if CBJ would even have interest in the deal.
