as a Rangers fan, i'm gonna have to pass. I love Monahan but Zibanejad is under a amazing contract and is slightly better imo.

I think it’s a tough deal for both sides. Maybe Zibanejad is slightly better, but he’s also 2 years older. Monahan also has an extra season on his contract.

in what world in Mika Zibanejad better than Sean Monahan, Zibenejad has had one season where he is even remotely comparable to monahan and that is this season where he is still 9 points behind him.

Mony has out performed him points wise in every single season that they have both been in the league including monahans rookie year. monahan is better on faceoffs, better in shooting percentage, better +/-, 2 years younger, and only costs us 1 million more than Z for 4 more seasons as opposed to Z's 3.

please do some research before posting on this site because you are completely and utterly out of your mind if you think the flames would ever make this trade

Well....

Calgary would trade Monahan and it would not be a surprise. Yeah he has good numbers but he is not capble of driving a line. He is also useless in his own zone so there’s that. He needs to be extremely sheltered and he takes less face offs now because of the arrival of Lindholm

they would trade him if the offer was Zibanejad a 2019 1st and a 2020 1st. the gaudreau and monahan duo is arguably one of the top three duos in the league over the last 4 years. a team would have to be incredibly stupid to break that up

the fact that 2 of monahans weaknesses in defenseive capability and faceoffs are covered now by lindholm is just another reason not to trade him. im not saying hes untouchable but your offer price is incredibly low. Zibanejad is a second line centre on most teams in the league he just happens too look real good this year because he plays for the dumpster fire that is the rangers

Gaudreau can make anyone he plays with better. Jiri Hudler had 76 points playing with him and was out of the league 2 years later.

These playoffs will be tell-tale for Monahan. He has his flaws, most noticeably in his own end. Calgary won’t win anything until he becomes a complete 200ft centre. If he fails to reach that level in the next year or two they would trade him for someone that can do the heavy lifting required to win, even if it results in less points like Zibanejad for example

my final thought is that Zibanejad has had one season that makes that 5.3 million dollar contract look good. i wouldn't be celebrating yet

fair enough thats your opinion i just completely and utterly disagree with you. his defensive shortcomings do not offset the offensiuve power house that his line has been his entire career

Lol with 2x1st! Stats are nice and all, but if you actually watch Zib play you would change your tune a little.
