St Louis 2019-20 amp Future

Created by: Murrayallens
Team: 2019-20 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2019
Published: Mar. 9, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Longer term plan would be to set an internal individual cap of $7.5m, then re-sign Schenn and Pietrangelo to 7.5m aav deals.

For 2020-21, Dunn will be the big RFA skater to focus on. My guess is he'll end up earning a deal similar to Parayko's. If Sanford or Fabbri or Reinke really impresses in 19-20, and therefore earns a bigger deal, there are cap relief options within this roster (eg buyout Steen, trade Edmundson).

Then comes the goalie position, and the hope here is that either Binnington or Korpisalo establishes himself as a capable starter, one worthy of a big money deal for 2020-21 and beyond. This roster, including the extensions mentioned earlier for Schenn and Pietrangelo, provides plenty of space for a big goalie contract under an estimated cap of 85m.

Edit: I realize I'm blocking Kyrou. But Steen, Fabbri, Sanford are all vulnerable to losing their spot if he can beat them out. Not to mention the injury history of several forwards, like Steen, Perron, Sanford. Lots of opportunity for Kyrou to find his way into this lineup.

That’s not a bad trade, but I just don’t understand why everybody wants to trade Schwartz after one bad season. People seem to forget how he was by far the team’s best player just a 1 season ago and had more points than Tarasenko in the two playoff runs. Sure he’s playing like a 3rd liner right now, but I think it’s worth it to hope he returns to form rather than sell him when his value is at its worst. Even if he never turns it around, you can just let him walk in 2 more seasons.

I don't necessarily *want* to trade Schwartz but I think someone has to be tacked on in any Jake Allen trade. I'd rather that be Steen, but his NTC makes that unlikely at best.

I don't see CBJ parting with Korpisalo when they are going to lose Bob this off season already. We'd probably have to give up more to get them to take Allen, or get less of a return.
