Ideal Rebuilding Roster

Created by: buchiegang
Team: 2019-20 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 9, 2019
Published: Mar. 9, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Toronto trade is mutually beneficial. The Leafs need cap space real bad and they get it while also getting a competent third line player. The Rangers have Uber cap room and gain a veteran forward who can help the youngins while also gaining some nice pieces for taking on money.

At the Draft: Georgiec Trade is made to make room for Shesty. Carolina gets a high end backup and potential starter. Rangers get some nice pieces

#8 - LW Matthew Boldy
#28 - C Brett Leason
#31 - LD Alex Vlasic
#39 - LW Pavel Dorofeyev
#46 - RW Egor Afanaseyev I
#48 - RD Anttoni Honka

Contracts: Sign Deangelo on the cheap long term, he’s gonna be a star and that will be a value contract. Bridge Buch and the rest of the RFAs, seen some great stuff out of him but need to see consistency. Tender 95% of minor league RFAs with league minimum.

Captiancy:

C - Zibanejad
A - Kreider
A - Fast
A - Shatty

First Call Ups on D: Rykov or Lindgren
First Call Ups at FWD: Fogarty, Lettieri, or Meskanen

Why Marleau? He’s old and doesn’t produce anymore. Why trade Strome he’s their second best player.

    A) I don't see Marleau waiving his NMC to come play his final year here.

    B) Between taking on the entire enormous Cap hit of an aging forward, and giving up a quality trade piece that has found himself in New York, I would ask for more.

That’s the same kind of “Don’t trade Talbot in East” nonsense and get hosed to move him out West. Talk. Trade him wherever you’re offered the best trade value.

Agreed. I do think it’s Spooner that he would be fine starting the season with a rebuilding team and then being flipped for the playoffs. Like I said just brainstorming...

Strome is a great third line piece but we have a lot of those already.

considering his age and the way he's playing, its dangerous. i'll just wait to see how Shestyorkin does first.
