1. I think we can all agree the habs aren't contenders this year and won't be again next year but it is a possibility in 2-3 years if done right. With that being said the only major trade I predict this year is the type of trade I put here, may not be Callahan and may not be Tampa but be a saviour to a team in cap hell and get a grade A prospect close to NHL ready and a mid round pick for the trouble.

2. NO HUGE UFA CONTRACTS. I know a lot of fans think the habs should go out and spend the remaining cap on a Duchene or Gardiner or both. God I hope not neither one of those guys are going to push MTL over the top and will have to overpay a long time to find that out. Biggest UFA difference maker MTL can sign and I hope they put all their attention in getting is Jimmy Schuldt. He's got the tools to be a stud in the NHL, is a left hand shot and if can be convinced to sign
with MTL only requires an entry level contract. Plus will be hitting his prime when the habs are ready to make a run in 2-3 years.

3. Like most hab fans I think highly of the upcoming prospects; but unless you want them to turn out like the Oilers, don't rush them. I think a rookie at each position is realistic(Poehling at F, Schuldt at D and Lindgren at G). Suzuki and Brook are going to be great players in the NHL but have things to work on which is what the AHL is for. Romanov and Ylonen both are probably going to need another year before crossing the pond and Primeau is a goalie and unless your name is Price it takes longer to go pro for most goalies so he probably stays in college for a while longer. One guy who may surprise and make the roster as a depth guy is Jake Evans. Guy has the battle of a young Gallagher trying to make the team and has already been full of surprises considering he was a 7th rounder.
