Gilly come back

Created by: jpozz1996

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 12, 2019

Description
Is this team good? No. Fire Benning 2 weeks before draft day, bring back Gilman and let him take control at July 1. The issue isn't draft day or TDL, the issue has always been July 1, and we need someone new for looking over that day. Also, get some new Pro Scouts, that department is ridiculous. Getting a top-3 draft pick would also help out but that shouldn't be expected with Canuck luck.

Man that left wing looks deplorable Garbage #1, Antoine Roussel, Garbage #2 and Garbage #3. I hope we can land Jack Hughes or Kappo Kakko and stick them on Pettersson's left wing.

Hughes is a center Honestly if VAN wins the lottery I would not be surprised they move back to #2 for Kappo and another Asset (Maybe that teams 2nd + Prospect) I know VAN fans think it would be sick to see both Hughes brothers on the same team like the Sedins but VAN has no need for another Center. They already have Horvat and Pettersson .

Could you imagine a line of Kappo-Pettersson-Boeser would easy contend for a Top 3 line in the NHL

Yeah, I want Hughes over Kakko - then Pettersson can play left wing. He honestly cannot win a faceoff to save his life so I’d like to see him have help. Though having a bigger body in Kakko would be nice too.

I don't know that your team is better than the Canucks right now. You bleed value in your Hutton & Tanev trades. Signing Myers to that contract is classic Benning not Gilly.

I'd rather keep Tanev one more year and lose him for nothing than that trade + Meyers signing.

The idea is that this team is 5 years into a Benning rebuild, and there is no way to make this team better for next year under the current circumstances. So I agree that this team is bad on paper, but on the outlook there is room to leave space for upcoming prospects. These trades are more about ridding of contracts than getting maximized value. Like I said, the issue isn't TDL and the Draft, Benning has done okay drafting, but come July 1st he signs outrageous contracts that just handcuff the team. Asset management Is now the issue, not developing a prospect pool.

Hutton is not a contract dump. In fact, he's better than Myers now. Signing Myers for that contract will handcuff the team.

I agree with your pov re asset management. We disagree with how to do that.

Hutton = more contract numbers than contract dump. Now if the Canucks move on from Edler, then yes resign Hutton I agree. However I don't see the point in bringing back Edler and Hutton, cause then you're going to lose a guy like Sautner or Brisebois through waivers unless you look to move one of those guys.

By trading Hutton with Sutter, you're not getting as good as a return, however you are getting a former 1st round pick who could slide into a 4th line centreman role in a few years.

Your Hutton scenario is not asset management. It's the opposite. Hutton is one year older than Sautner and much much better. A 25 year old defenseman who can be a good 2nd pair or very good 3rd pair is very valuable.

Much rather cut Sautner than trade Hutton for that.
