I'm a fan of getting Ritchie, but that top pair...WHAT???? Edler and Seabrook??? With Keith and Joki on the bottom pair? I'm very confused and the Hawks still need to develop their what seems to be 50 defensive prospects too. Can't just let them sit. I could understand ONE of either Edler or Stralman, but not both...and not for more that a year or two. most likely 1 year from Stralman because he'll want a bounce back year for a larger deal following. I can't see him being happy with $2.75M. He'll accept that for a 1 year deal, but I'm sure a vet RD is looking for $5M+ for a playoff team.

My other option instead of Edler was Bouwmeester. He provides more defensively and could be had for less years and value.

Trading Murphy would be a mistake in my opinion, he's been one of the better D men this season. Edler and Stralman is a waste of money. Hawks are going to make a splash in free agency, it's been reported everywhere, but I don't think this is the splash they mean. Hawks are going to try and add a big name.

Also, is Ritchie better than Caggiula? I'm not so sure.

Dzingel or Duchene but I'd rather grab some mid-tier guys like Ferland or Tanev and save money for everyone who's contract is coming up after this year.

Your not very cap aware. As long as you save $5M in cap space next year, the Hawks are fine for everyone the following year. Cap raises every year and ESPECIALLY in 2020 with the expansion. You can count on at least a $85M cap ceiling. So basically you are sitting on $7M of usable cap space and filled this team with a bunch of mediocre players. Ritchie over kahun, Caggs or even Perlini and not like Anaheim is interested in trading away young players.

Additionally Moving murphy is a mistake.
