That Trouba trade isn't close, and the hawks have 3 RD prospects trying to make the team within the next two seasons (Boqvist, Mitchell, and Jokiharju). Seabrook being scratched is highly unrealistic.

You won’t need Trouba. But I do agree that this is a dark horse contender. That being said, do not trade Hagel if you want to contend in the future. He’ll be able to round out he top six in the future as a LW with Toews. Take a big offseason swing at one UFA, and let the rest of the holes be filled by prospects. This team is only a couple years away. Should they land Panarin, this team will be the one to beat.

Wow Hagel in the top 6? I'll take it. I'm not sure that'll come true, but I'm hopeful! We all agree that the Trouba trade value just isn't there. The Hawks are becoming a PIT/TOR team. Defense Optional. I hate to say it because I like shutdown defenders, but that's what they're becoming.

Why would the Jets give you Trouba for that?

Put it this way. Peyton Krebs is about to be a top 10 pick because he drives the offence on a bad team, scoring a point on 38.5% of the goals. That’s solid. Hagel has points on 46.8% of Red Deer’s goals, has personally scored 19% of them, is doubling the nearest point leader on his team, and more than doubling the closest member in +/- with a +42 on a team that is +0 as a whole. Basically, he is the offence of Red Deer, and has put up well over 100 points on a very bad offensive team. That’s impressive. Wait till he plays with Kane or Toews. He won’t have to work near as hard. Obviously I love the kid, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him playing top line in Chicago down the road.

what is this fascination with Leddy? guy was like minus 40 last year. CHI doesn't need offensive minded D, they have plenty of them, (Gus over Laddy any day) if anything they might use a defensive Dman.
