Winnipeg doesn't need more wingers, They will want either C or D prospects for Trouba. And Trouba wants close to $8 million per and Panarin $11 million neither are taking less just to play in Florida regardless of the tax base here in Florida.

I agree with the Trouba trade assessment but the second bit is wrong. The tax break is exactly why they sign for less, 7 million in Florida is just over 8 million in Einnipeg and 9.5 million in Florida is close to 11 million anywhere else.

Players take less money on contracts in states that have lower taxes, it's how Vegas signed Stone and Pacioretty, it's how Tampa has gotten star players to stay on decent contracts and the Panthers are pro ball going to use it as leaverage to sign players

Tampa isn't an example of the tax base, Their stars took less the keep the core together Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov etc had nothing to do with the cheap tax base here in Florida. Honestly if their was no salary cap Stamkos would be probably making at least $10 million per Eichel money he's way over-producing for what he makes. They took discounts to keep the core together nothing less.

You cant say it wasnt a factor, Tampa, Florida, Vegas and Nashville all benefit from the players knowing they take home more because of the state the team is in (geographically), it helps when you have a winning core but it's a multitude of reasons. You're naive if you think that's it's not a factor when players make that decision.
