Flames locking down the team

Created by: Canadianape
Team: 2019-20 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2019
Published: Mar. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
rounding out the core for Stanley cup contention in the next three years

this is what the team looks like going into the playoffs next season. i would also expect a trade to be made for a top 6 winger at the deadline potentially involving brodie at the deadline. with these moves the flames will have enough cap to resign Hamonic and potentially resign the top 6 winger in the 2020 off season

any team that will take him
2.
CGY
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
personally i think quine or lazar fit better for the flames as the 3rd/4th line centre. janks has been very underwhelming this season but he still has potential so colorado would take him to add much needed depth
3.
CGY
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
at the 2020 trade deadline. ( likely to any team looking to make a playoff push. Brodie is top 4 D so he would shore up any team defensively. Calgary has Anderson and Valimaki to replace him. would likely also include a 2nd/3rd line winger with picks going back from calgary

What's the status of James Neal? Do you expect a rebound season next year? Is he an anchor with his cap hit? Is he still playing well? Just asking.

He’s definetly an anchor this season. Has been injured for quite a while and his contract is definetly ugly for the flames. But I do expect a better season out of him next season as long as the flames lock him in on the second line. Neal has been surrounded by good players his whole career and now the flames are utilizing him in a third line role where the players are not good enough to elevate his game. Neal has a lot of veteran presence and his contract would be very difficult to move without retaining so calgary will likely keep him in the Hopes that he rebounds next season. He also doesn’t have NTC or NMC so calgary can expose him to the Seattle draft.
