2 major things here:

1. Florida isn't trading Ekblad. He hasn't lived up to #1 overall expectations, but if they moved him their d core is severely lacking on the right side. This offer doesn't address that and makes them much weaker as a team
2. Are you NUTS? .. That's a ridiculous overpayment for Ekblad. Even when he was at his best as a rookie that's too much.

He would, it makes no sense to get him just to put him on his weak side, which would make him more ineffective. This whole post just makes no sense.

That's a giagantic overpayment to address an area (Defense) that doesn't even need addressing. Not a good trade at all.

Pretty sure Brodie prefers playing his off side.

This trade is a massive massive overpayment especially for a team like Calgary that has one of the best defense cores in the league plus three great young defenseman in Andersson, Kylington and Valimaki.
