I really don't think you want to take a 2 year 9.75 million dollar gamble on a group of bottom 6 players on career and declining years.

Take that money and make a bid for Duchene or something productive.

I'd rather use that money on shorter deals for quality depth then put all that money on one person while creating depth issues in the bottom 6. I'd rather have Tanev, Brassard, and Ferland who can play multiple roles then giving a huge contract to Panarin or Duchene and creating another cap issue we're stuck with for (possibly) 7-10 years.

Fair, but then go get someone like Donskoi who has a proven track record of being a good depth player. Tanev is coming off of his only good year, and Brassard has been absolutely terrible except for a pair of seasons that are coming up on half a decade old. Ferland is the guy I have the least issue with, but all my concerns with Tanev get echoed. Better player than Tanev, but still coming off a career year that has a chance to be an anomaly.
