Some crazy good signings

Created by: MajesticWalrus
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 18, 2019
Published: Mar. 18, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
47/50 contracts used

With AHL lines potentially looking like

Almeida-Langan-Drozg
Bellerive-Abbandonato-Mckenna
Hallander-Pavlychev-Bjorkvist
Miletic-Olund-Lucchini

Phillips-Chatfield
Lauzon-Addison
Siebenaler-Prow

Jarry
D'Orio

Scratches; Birks, Haggerty, Angello & Lafferty

Drozg being the first to be called up. Drozg has already succeeded at the top Swedish elite league playing against men and some might think he slipped by only putting up a point per game in the CHL. But his team is the worst in the league and he leads his team in points. I think he's ready.

If we trade Jarry then we should do it in Sprong-like fashion. Hammond replaces jarry in the minors and he can play at the NHL level if murray or desmith get injured. And who knows, maybe if he's given an actual chance, he might actually have a chance to impress like that inhuman season, only makes sense. He did have a better first season than Binnington after all. Snubber from winning the hart or calder with a couple bad starts ending his career. Regardless, he broke many records. But hopefully we can get a good return for jarry like we did with sprong.

Pettersson is going to want more money. He has been amazing for PIT. Maybe he'll take that deal for 1 year

I dont know, i could see him take a Stecher-like contract. Similar production. Both good defensively.

Lauzon is injury prone & didn't play at all this season he likely isn't getting signed.

Limoges would be an interesting pick up. They need to let those AHL contracts expire and start flooding WBS with youth.

Pavlychev is groomed as a 4th line guy. The best guy to compare him to is Boyle. Big, got a mean side, difficult to play against. I was really hoping to see him in WBS this year. But that might not happen if they make it to the frozen 4.

I commented on Abbandonato not to long ago. He's an over ager but someone is gonna take a chance on him.
Langan is on the same boat.

As for McKenna I don't know if he translate to the NHL level. He's on the smaller side, and not the best stick handler on the ice. It's a lot easier to find a RW than it is a LW. Because most centers are also lefties so it takes up a lot of players and there are a lot more right handed people than left handed people in the world. So the quality of player at RW tends to be a lot higher than what is available on the LW.

Overpay for Pettersson

He's only behind Dahlin in rookie assists by a defenceman and is third in pts and 2nd in plus/minus. That means hes doing better than Heiskanen in some areas and maybe dahlin and the rest of rookie defenceman in most categories. And he's done it playing bottom pairing minutes.

I totally agree with this and this is also why i have them in the AHL here to develop but i think that they can make the NHL the year after if they impress. But i think Limoges is ready and he's two-way which is why he can work with malkin and kessel. id be most intrigued for Almeida, Bellerive, and Drozg and if these signings happened; Limoges, Langan, Abbandonato, mckenna.

If that is the price for Maatta from Pitt fans, then holy crap he must suck. Granlund is a 4th liner on most non bottom feeder teams and Chatfield isn't a lock to ever even make the NHL and frankly isn't even that great of a prospect to begin with. This feels like throwing Maatta away pretty much.....

I know you want to save some cap and what not but I can't believe Maatta has fallen from where he once was at only 24 years old.

Well im sure he can get a much better return but most people on here are too picky and dont make sense. In reality, a higher pick should be coming from vancouver too and instead.

what?? I think this projection is actually too high. for one year he would probably get a bit over half that. I don't think he should get over 2mil aav unless its a 3 year deal.

Yea that's basically what stecher got and i think he'll get or should get a similar deal or less.

Quite the opposite. Two months of playing "okay" doesn't get you a major payday. He hasn't been a start, just okay. $2Mx2 would be a win for him.

Yet he is set to have 109 games under his belt by the end of the season. With 60 coming from pittsburgh where hes played even better than he did in anaheim. He's only behind Dahlin in rookie assists by a defenceman and is third in pts and 2nd in plus/minus. I think he signs a 1 year deal. Then they go from there. There is no history, that's what usually happens with players with no history. unless their name is Pasternak and then you get screwed on a long term deal.

Yeah I am really hoping they get a chance at Abbandonato. I don't know. It's dog eat dog out there for the good UFAs. You can never get them all. Out of the first batch I think detroit got the best guy in Hirose. You never know.

Limoges is interesting but the thing I worry about on him is his shot%. Last year he was at like 8% and it showed. This year he's at 21% and that seems abnormally high. So I think you really get a player who is somewhere inbetween. I think his ceiling is a 3rd line guy myself. I think that's kind of the role they have been grooming his game toward.
I really think they need a big fast power forward for that 2nd line. A guy with a mean edge to him. But those are hard to find. I don't know of any college or CHL UFA players who can fill that role.
