Man, NJ is not moving Hall without top talent. This is a classic quantity for quality trade.

That third line of yours...2/3 of them should be the players going back to NJ alongside with picks to make them even consider the offer.

I disagree if it's for the purpose of a rental. Necas has 1C upside Svechnikov isn't moving and Kuokkanen has only started to show what he can do. I agree the trades are off, if that's all it took to get Taylor Hall, we'd have him yesterday. As for the Nylander for Pesce trade, it's a little more in depth then a lot. It's still off, and what is the point in moving Pesce, an elite shutdown D man on a beautiful contract, for a man making 10 mil rn (I know it drops to like 6.7 next year) and a prospect which is like a lottery. If Lilly pans out it looks like a steal, but I think 1, you're better off not making the trade all together, and 2 targeting a goalie spec, we do have Bean and Fox still

That comment was very thoughtout. Is Hamilton better for the trade? Nylander is one of the only players under 22, has 2 60 point seasons and is on the market. He’s not the best but he would fit perfectly in the Canes lineup.

That would be quite a haul for New Jersey for a one year rental. That pick could still be a lottery pick.

Hamilton can normally put up 40 points but defensively isn't what Toronto need, I'd argue that what they want is Faulk. He doesn't have the value but he's the most well rounded, he can put up 30-40 points and is much better defensively then Hamilton. If that combined with someone like TvR helps, it'll allow us to bring in Fox/Pesce, and while I'm at it, maybe Fox is what Toronto want... I'm not too sure but he's over 1.5 PPG in the NCAA, and that would be a good add for them. He wants to play in a big market, there aren't many bigger. Nylander would also allow Toronto to ease their cap situation. Honestly the only way I see Toronto staying under the cap is if they move Kapanen/Johnsson. Neither of them are good enough to warrant keeping over guys like Nylander and that combined 8-9 Million will give them the money for Marner's extension and with Matthews extension kicking in... My ideal trade for something like this would be something like Kapanen and Ian Scott for Fox and TvR or something, but idrk, there's a reason the people who use this site aren't NHL GM's

That is a brutal trade for njd and a worse trade for Toronto, somehow.
