Why do people do this?

I mean really, people do this all the time. They will separate out a RW from a LW but when it comes to defense they just leave it like there is no difference between a RHD and a LHD.

sure there is a difference but if you search on any hockey site and sort stats by position it gives you C LW RW D and G...

even my fantasy hockey league there is not even an option to make that a position LD or RD a ton of dmen change a lot

its the same C LW RW D and G —simple

D men only change out of necessity. You can't make cross ice passes on a back hand reliably. It's why right play on the right and lefts play on the left.
Regardless of how others do it, it's simply just wrong. There is a huge difference between the two. Hell wingers are just as likely to switch sides if not more likely considering it's easier for them. It's just lack of respect for the position.

no one is "upset" I'm just point out the stupidity of it.
It's like saying winger.

People say top 50 each position and then act like playing on the L or R makes no difference. As if you could have players play on their off side and it wouldn't matter.
Or some how that it matters for wingers and not defense men like they are some second class citizen or some crap.
