who has to give up more? assuming you mean CAR I would have done Pesce and a 2nd but had them take on Brown instead.

Considering the other poster has a picture of Matthews I'm going to say they're posting from Toronto's point of view. I'd also agree. With Nylander establishing that he can play as a c his value is up.

Nylander would be worth at least Pesce and a first. Maybe Pesce kuokannen and a first.

Idk if Nylander has established he can play center.. he did it on a small sample size at 3c. I understand he has higher value than Pesce so drop Brown and add a 2nd from CAR.

I'm a fan of neither of these teams, so here is an outside looking in perspective.

Pesce @ 4.03 M >> Nylander @ 6.96 M (he's a 20 goal scorer?? Why did he get paid so much?)

No idea what Brown brings to the table, but considering Toronto's cap situation, this looks like a fair trade.

So don't add brown. Brown has value and can be traded elsewhere. Brown doesn't decrease the return.

the leafs could easily go out and get at least a 3rd round pick for him, he isnt a negative asset and will be able to be traded easily. A player who has the talent like nylander is not worth a player like pesce, he is closer to a parako or provarov.

As a Blues fan Parayko is not that much if at all better than Pesce, and Provarov is LH i was only looking at RHD which is what TOR needs desperately.

Nylander has outperformed Marner in all aspects but the PP and luck this year. You are so absurdly wrong in your analysis its funny.

Handedness shouldn't be as big of a factor as it is. The most important things as a defenseman should be the ability to move the puck in the dz and another problem is holding the blue line in the oz. Rielly, muzzin, Gardiner and dermott are all left handed but can play the right side because they are so good with the puck that the extra second they lose when on their offside doesn't affect them as much.

Teams should always look to have the best players possible over worse players who play the position they need. When it comes to the oz the puck movers are able to create space and being on their offside can benefit them on occasion. Morgan rielly has the skill to pick the puck up with his feet and walk the blue line to create a scoring chance. When someone shoots the puck around the boards the defenseman use their body against the boards to keep it in and handedness doesn't effect that as much

It's so funny how people think he is just someone who isnt anyone without matthews. He has been so unlucky this season but he has been insane for the last month and past season

best defensive pairings have a LHD and a RHD, no if TOR can get a better player that is LH they should do so I get that. But CAR is a willing trade partner who has 4 very good RHD, there are not a lot of teams willing to give up the caliber of player TOR fans want for Nylander IMO CAR and Pesce are their best most likely option.

Yeah they're not even close IMO. Biggest difference is something that can't be quantified with a stat, and thats heart. Marner gives it 110% every shift of every game. Nylander is lazy half the time he's on the ice. Could he be as good as Marner? I think so. Marner just outworks him badly.

Right, Marner has dominated games this season almost to the same effect that McDavid or Kane can dominate games. Nylander is on pace for like a 55 point season... Marner has 86 and counting.
