NOTE THIS IS CLEARLY FOR FUN
I think that a line of Laine, McDavid, and Drai would produce outstanding numbers that could carry this team back into the ploffs.

I think that the Jets match that easily and trade others if necessary, but I agree that top line would easily be the best in the NHL. I don’t like the Habs trade at all, Oilers don’t get near enough for those 2.

Laine isn't a 1st line player, he's a 3rd liner who has a terrific shot when standing in the faceoff circle on the PP.

Only 50% of Lucic's total salary can be retained. Not 50% per trade.

If this is true want to explain to me why hagelin has over 50% of his contract retained? Hagelin signed for 4M but WSH is now paying 1.875M

"What is a retained salary transaction/trade
When a team trades a player, they have the option to retain a part of their salary (and cap hit). The team who retains the salary then pays the retained percentage of the salary, and also retains the percentage of the cap hit until the contract expires. The following requirements must be met to retain salary:
The percentage retained cannot exceed 50 percent of the player’s salary (including all bonuses) and Salary Cap Hit."

Hagelin salary is literally below 50% and on an NHL team which seems more bit more official then a fan site

this site has the exact rules from the official CBA. I'm pretty sure they know what they're talking about if they post it

Still avoiding the clear example of a player under 50% of his cap hit

Idc about the example. The rule is (as clearly stated under the CBA) that the maximum amount retained on a players salary (which is his annual AAV) is 50%. I can't make it much more clear than that. that's the rule.

Well the clear as day rule isn’t actually that clear because it doesn’t state original contract or retained contract amount. Hagelin for example again when traded to LA his contract with LA was for 3.75M only then other part retained by Pens has nothing to do with LA and what they can retain. The 3.75M was half retained and Hagelin was sent to the Caps. Which pretty much confirms it’s the retention is max 50% of what the current team owes and isn’t tied to the original amount

Tyler Ennis could no way fill in a 3rd line or any line center role. Try again

Laine signing, not trade. And wouldnt happen. First off, that beauty of a contract that Lucic sits on isnt going any where. Sorry about that. Also from a winnepeg perspective, it wont happen.
