BU is getting gutted. Farabee, Krys, Oettinger, and Fabbro all turning pro. It'll be interesting to see how they fare next year.

BU will be fine next year. Hell they weren't even that good this year. They didn't make the Frozen Four so enough said.

I saw this kid play 2 games this year. I wasn't impressed. I don't think he's NHL material.

What made you think that Krys isn't NHL material? Was it watching 'a game' that made you come to that conclusion?

I'm not saying he is or isn't but most of the beat writers think he's going to be a solid 3rd liner and maybe a 2nd liner. I tend to think he's a 3rd liner or 7th man. Either way, it's a good signing to get him locked in and get him the AHL to see what he has.

It's the skill level. You have to stand out on the ice. Or at least not be noticed as a defense man. But even that isn't going to get you to the NHL at the NCAA level. There are just too many players coming from too many leagues for you to be a bland player and be one of the 192 players luck enough to play in the NHL. You add into it that he's on the smaller side and it doesn't add up well. I saw 2 games of BU this year. I was not all that impressed with them. The only players that really stood out to me were Fabbro and Carpenter.

I actually think this is a pretty fair review. He was drafted as a puck moving offensive Dman that needs to work on his defensive skill a bit. I'm a Hawks fan, but I attempt to look at our own prospects with a critical eye. I don't think he's been progressing as much as either him or the team (both BU and CHI) would want. I've learned never to count someone out...TVR...Gus... but he'll be in Rockford for a number of years working on his game. AND I actually think that time in Rockford could allow him to develop into an NHL player, but when he's 24-25.

I think the real issue is in a changing NHL where players are expected to make an impact earlier and retire in their early 30s can you wait that long?
This game has grown. The players are starting to come from every part of the planet. The NCAA had at least 3 players from China in it this year. Maybe 2 of them were admission scandal kids or something, but one of them got drafted so he's got to play.

The point is there are more and more players to pick from. The talent level is getting deeper and teams aren't playing these guys into their upper 30s anymore. So starting at 25, when you are basically hitting your peak as a player probably isn't going to remain a reality. I think in 3-5 years if you aren't in the league by 22 you probably won't get there. The AHL will be nothing but farm, systems filled with 20 year olds not professional AHLers.
There are just too many kids playing today to not find 10-15 good young defense men to fill the roles available. Kids starting at 25 is going to be a thing of the past by the time he's 25

Well he's got 3 points in his first 2 AHL games so far so not a bad start.

yeah I haven't see the games. But if he's got 3 assists and is a -2 that means he's been on the ice for 5 goals against in 3 games? Maybe for his sake some of the assists are off the power player. I don't know, didn't see it. It doesn't matter, I wouldn't judge him on this year. New team, doesn't know the system. It will depend on what he does next year.
