Unfortunately Panarin and Skinner will drive up the market price for LW's this free agency.

It's actually the opposite. More, and much better players (Bread and Skins) will drive down the price of other available LW's; supply and demand.

Dzingel will likely get $5 x 5 give or take $250K....he's had one breakout season and he's not a center either. Look at with Wild Bill Karlsson got; $5.5M as a center and a bigger year.

As of now, didn't Karlsson have almost twice the season in VGK's first that Dzingel is having now, even at his best?

Yes exactly but take into consideration it was a 1 year deal with Karlsson. Nonetheless, it can be dismissed that Karlsson is expected to get $5m to $6m on a longer term deal. I keep pegging Dzingel at a $4.75M deal.

Saad started the season playing poorly without a goal in his first 7 games after a rough season last year and has had a couple cold streaks for 5 games or so without a point. Overall though it's been a good season 23 goals and 43 points and on target to finish the season with 26 goals and 49 points which is about par for his best years. Still not stellar for a $6M a year player if you look at goals and points but his two way game has been really good this season and is quicker and more physical. He brings a lot more to the table certainly then last year.

That all said, I'm not a big Saad fan and never have been. Hindsight now is of course 20/20 but even when we traded Panarin to get back Saad I was hugely vocal about what a mistake while most Hawks fans were okay with it given his playoff run in 2015 being fantastic with the Hawks. The guy has all the pieces to be a Hossa without the IQ in my opinion and without the strength Hossa had.

At $6M a year I could take him or leave him...pretty ambivalent when it comes to Saad and would be happy to trade him if we could get back Panarin and fill in the hole with Dzingel now that Caggiula is bringing that 2 way physical grinder game for a lot cheaper. Sounds like a AGM smile

Saad is a tough case to crack; he has great stretches, he has **** stretches... Let's be honest, he was overpaid at 6 per. The 4.5+ that Stan was supposedly negotiating with his agent was far more appropriate.

But as to why Saad hasn't played to expectations since 2015? I think Saad depends HEAVILY on who his linemates are. He was at his best by a country mile with Toews and Hossa, and there was that great stretch in 2014 with Shawzie and Kane. Outside of those specific combos, he's very hot or cold. And that is not good...

But he is what he is, so how do you solve that? They sent Panarin off to bring Saad back to play with Toews... Do you go looking for the right kind of RW to play with 19&20? Obviously you never find a replacement for Hossa, but is there someone out there who would be suited for the job? I would've said Mark Stone but we know how that story ended... So, I have no idea what the hell to do with him...

Aye, my point was being made to re-enforce yours. I was thinking Dzingel was more like 4.25 but then he had to go and have this great damned season...
