Description
I am only throwing this out there as i have seen multiple people looking to "reset" Monahan...... but i don't think its awful for either side;

If Johns spends part of the season on IR, then coming back after should have freed up enough $$ space, add to that i still think Marleau can be hidden on LTIR as well too to do the same

So its Timashov and a 2nd for Faksa and a 4 million dollar cap dump. I think Dallas passes

I don't think they do, but if CGY wanted to move on (as other ACGM'ers have suggested - not my view), then CGY would be interested in Nylander++, and Kadri is a nice replacement on their #2/3c; also landing a goalie of the future and moving up in the draft would have value to CGY.
Leafs would get a reliable RHD, save a few $, and allow them to play Monahan at 3C, or 1/2LW, and move PM12 down in the lineup

its actually a 2nd and a LW + C prospects, and a 2nd pairing RHD (for which they have none in the system).
It allows Dallas to play Hintz / L'esperance/ Dickenson at #2/3C
Leafs (worst case) pay $5m of real $$, and get cap relief, and a Kadri Replacement (when he is dealt)

Joshua is a UFA in August, he'll probably wait it out and you yourself said Johns is better defensively. They could spend the same money on a FA and probably get a better 2RD. Dallas likes Faksa, he isnt someone theyre looking to dump

But can Johns play? - thats the whole key to this. The point of the deal is that Dallas gets a Healthy RHD, picks and prospects, they give up a #3C (for which they have many replacements waiting), and the Leafs hope Johns gets healthy, and if not they shed the $, and have a replacement for Kadri if they deal him (or package Brown/Faksa togetherwith ?? to get a Pesce type DEF) . if its better Toronto can trade Dakota's draft rights instead

I didn't think the Dallas trade would be the most commented on LOL.

Why is there the useless Horton trade? As we should know, LTIRs don't affect the cap.

I didnt comment on whether Johns could even play. Theirs Dallas fans on here saying they want Faska @2c next year anyway, so 3c will be open regardless, and Hintz and L'esperance can go to the wing. This trade only benefits Toronto
