Ur letting recency bias get to you, Nylander is really good, don't let the whole contract fiasco distract you from his skill. He may not be worth his $ rn, but he's still a core piece moving forward for the leafs. Terrible trade imo for the leafs and I like Ian Mitchell

I agree with what you're saying about Nylander's ability. (NOT that he's proven ANYTHING yet...because that part's just factually true, but I do see him play and think he's a good player) With that said...that's really not the full point in my opinion. Dubas can't be happy. It's without a doubt injury after insult. You're going to hold out for 2+ months...then I cave and give you your money...and now my team's playing worse with you on it vs letting Kap stay on the 2nd line...I mean...Dubas can't even get the same trade value as he could have at the beginning of the year! Even you said it. He's not worth is contract. So...with $8M in cap for next year...who do you get rid of? Kasperi? Marner? Nylander? I'd argue that by shedding $7M in cap you're setting up TOR better for the long term. Keep Kasperi, Keep Marner, Keep Johnsson.

He has 26 Goals in 49 Games that's an average of 43 Points a Year. 1 The thing is Toronto won't have cap space in the next couple of years. 2 He isn't worth really much more Ian Mitchell is a great Prospect, but the Forsberg is pretty good as well. Murphy is adding a bit to there defense because there defense is a liability at the moment losing games to the Flyers like they did last night next year if I were dubas that's not gonna fly so you need to upgrade the defense Defensively, and if you can't get Pesce/Parayko you have to get someone else who isn't as good, but costs cheaply. Mitchell, and Murphy can be those guys. Murphy as a filler, and Mitchell as the future guy. I personally think Nylander is good, but after what has happened this year there is no way I would ever say he is worth a a 2nd Line Defenseman anymore. Especially when you give him top 6 minutes has GREAT Linemates, and can only fetch 26 Points in 49 Games.

The one thing I will say sure he has some speed, but a 40 Point player production is not worth 6 Million Dollars next year. Schenn is getting 6.5 Million which is about the same as Nylander, but 1 problem Schenn is a 60 Point producer and Nylander is a 40 point producer.

Guys mature and develop and maybe he grows out of the lazy times. .

Maybe he grows out of lazy time????? LOL thats is something you do prior to giving a guy $35MM contract. And what if he doesn't? You will be offering Kapanen, together with Nylander just to sweeten the deal. I personally would not give up Murphy for him. I'd give some MAYBEs, like Mitchell and/or Beaudin and a pick. (hawks has no Murphy replacement in the immediate future).

Nylander has a better rel cf%, rel xGF%, and a better offensive threat, Nylander crushes Schenn in transition too.

All idiot leaf fan bashing aside, yeah let's just remove our best Dman this season from the equation without a proper replacement, that sounds like a great idea...

For a team who wants their goal crease to be literally filled with pucks every single game...

But in all of that aside. None of that has turned into anything on the ice. He has proven that his teammates do the work. Look at his point production. His Transition is good, but that doesn't mean anything when he doesn't bring anything to the table when it comes to being in the O-Zone and setting up plays. He has not done anything as for as points are concerned you also are missing the whole fact that his linemate is Matthews, and he still can't pull out very much point production.

I would have a better corsi and gf% if I was lined up next the Matthew's too though...

But seriously. 2nd best offense in the NHL and he has 6 goals. He's not really a factor.
