Myers Kapanen and Dzingel

Created by: Willian_Cardoso
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2019
Published: Mar. 29, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Oilers need to improve their offense. Specially on the wings. Sign Dzingel and trade Nurse to Kapanen could solve their offensive depth score problem. Myers would be a very good add to Edmonton and could help them on both sides of the rink and still help the team physically. Lucic to Kovy would be a trade of 2 bad contracts, which players could get some fresh air and improve their games. I think Kovy would boost a lot his game playing alongside McDavid and Draisaitl.

On the other hand, Nurse is a solid two-way d-man with upside, which can play on both sides of the D. Probably he would play in Toronto right side.

Minnesota adding Benning would bring them some depth in their D, cause they'll lose 2 of their 7 d-men to FA.

As for the Kings, the trade to them would be more thinking about to get a mid-high pick. Something valuable to a team which is rebuilding.

Doesn't really matter whether Nurse can play right side or not. Point is, they need it to be right-handed because otherwise they'd have only one right handed D and it's Zaitsev...that's just not enough.

A few months ago, I was the driver of the bus that had a deal of Kapanen for Nurse straight up. Now, it doesn't make any sense since Toronto already traded for Muzzin. Be easier to work out a deal that involved Kapanen and Larsson though

Did Kovalchuk really leave Russia to sign in LA only to waive his NMC to play in Edmonton?

Do u think Larsson has more value than Nurse? Nurse is younger and will be a RFA. Larsson will have left just 2 years in his contract and no re-signing guarantees. I think Toronto could sign a RHS d-man in FA.

To get an opportunity to play with McDavid and Draisaitl, leaving a rebuilding team? Well, to me it's a no-brainer decision. I'd waive my NMC at the same moment and leave with a huge smile in my face.

Probably would be the reserve D. Either him or Rosen.

Toronto has no need for another left handed shot d-man so Nurse doesn't have a lot of value to them at all. Very little actually. Larsson is at least a 3-4 d-man that is a right handed shot. So yes, he would have more value to Toronto. Also, in 2 years Toronto would have a very good chance to re-sign him. So the fit is much better for Larsson than it is for Nurse

They can't. Out of money. Obviously.

Adding Lucic's contract would just kill cap space for the Kings for twice longer than Kovalchuk's term. Blake just won't do that trade.

I changed Lucic's retained salary to 50% and replace the 3rd to a 2nd pick. Now I think it's fair enough.

I understand your logic and reasonable thinking for yourself and likely how most people would feel in this type of situation. Kovalchuk knew the situation in LA wasn't good. He took the most money with the best term offered in a city with year round nice weather. He's on a retirement tour. This is not a last hoorah for a Stanley Cup.

Toronto deal looks doable.
NO chance with Kovalchuk, though would be an interesting addition 4 ED.

Well, if you're really right (and I admit that there's some logic in your opinion), Kovy is pretty stupid, cause I think if he asks for a trade like that, Kings probably would accept. Specially for a good return. I gave them a 2nd round pick. Maybe plus a decent prospect would be enough.

Toronto's deal makes pretty sense for both. As for Kings one, maybe plus a decent prospect in my offer would be more interesting to LA. The question is still has some ambition to win a cup, before his retirement? I'm not sure...
