I'm a little confused over the general direction of this whole idea. You're trading away young guys for older guys and draft picks. Is this supposed to be a win-now team or a full-rebuild team?

I don't have a problem with the trades but more so the premise of the trades in itself. Trading just to trade isn't going to benefit us at all.

Ehlers is only 23, Trouba is 25, Heinen is 23. Its not like im trading for 29 year olds. Panarin is 27, they likely need to start contending in a year or two and this team would be great. You don't need to re-sign anyone major here after a year and in 2 years when Chytil's deal expires you will have 20 mill freed up from Shattenkirk, Staal and Lundqvist. The only trade that probably destroys this is James Neal, you don't even need to do that trade. You can just sign keep one of Fast or Vesey and not do the Neal trade
