Well that's an interesting way to burn through your ELC.

Great signing for Vegas. Should be a solid NHL defenseman. Lucky Vegas, every player wants to play there

My guess is MB didn't want to play ball on burning his ELC and making reassurances of a certain level of renegotiation in the offseason after only being on the team for 2 games. Not saying I agree with it but knowing MB's history I'm not surprised.

How much does he get next season? I assume he talked with GMGM about this prior to signing. I would think between 1.5-3.

Oh he definitely did. I'd say between 2 and 2.5 with the chance at more depending what he does in the playoffs.

So I've read since I posted last. Not a bad pay for 2 games.

He would've had more of an opportunity with MTL. Habs 100% would've given him a long look at LD. not sure he'll get that in Vegas.

But gotta give credit to Vegas, they've become a premium location around the league in just a few years. Fun city, no state taxes, + a competitive team? Sign me up!

Montreal was never on his shortlist. It was between Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues and the New York Islanders.

And he clearly didn't like the organization because they weren't in his top-5 this spring.

I really like this signing. He's bottom 4 potential, that's not knocking him, it's just reality. But I think he'll make the jump and be a quality defense man in the NHL. Good signing.

I imagine he signed with Vegas because they offered the most money after his ELC expired.

He will get roughly 16k for signing this contract + the signing bonus.

Looking back at this ... did they actually sign him for that much? How much is he expected to make next year?

The cap is so high because he was signed so late into the season. It was a standard ELC (1X925K)
