Alot of people said the caps were screwed when they lost alot of role players after going all in the year before they won. As long as you have the core pieces you'll have a shot at the cup, the rest is on your GM to compliment your core with pieces that work

As a Blackhawks fan, I can tell you Jan Rutta is not worth $3 million. He's not even worth his current deal imo. That said, he's a keeper and I'm glad to see TBL fans on this site recognize that

Most of the role players have a NTC or Modified NTC clause though.

It's going to be tough to move the role players they want to move.

Yeah ... the contracts are all a bit high for dramatic affect.

If they re-sign their whole team they'd probably only be $12,000,000 over the cap ... not $17,000,000.

Fair point.

Didnt even notice that, yikes why does half the team have NTC's???, Still could be a 10 team one though right? So they still can be traded i believe if thats the case, just to certain teams

Doesn’t look pretty. That being said you can bridge Point and you don’t need to pay your third pair a combined 6 mil or Stralman 5 mil or girardi at all.

it most likely wont happen because Point has seen Matthews sign an 11.6M contract as a benchmark of superstar centres. Then again, it could go the other as Kucherov sign to a "hometown" discounted contract and that's after he saw Tavares, Price and Doughty signs to huge contract extensions.

tbh the Bolts dont have to worry much. Ryan Callahan's contract will be off the book at the end of the 2020 season which is at the same time as Vasilevskyi. Thus, they can just give ''Callahan's cap hit" to Vasy.

YAWN.. Stralman Gurardi and Colburn all off books after this year .. 11M .. most of that to Point on 9plus M extension .. 3 to 4 Syracuse crunch studs need to play next year .. Foote as RD and 2 to 3 forwards. They all cheap and good .. look for combo trades with Gourde Miller Callahan with Sergachev a wild card .. all have 1st round value except for Callahan who fits with Buffalo or NY Rangers for his last year.

Problem with your logic is that Vasy will be looking for big time money. Considering his play, he could be on par with Cary Price money. Which means it will be high than you think.

I truly think Point is going to get an offer sheet. He would be foolish to take a bridge deal. A player of his caliber should never sell himself short.

Defensemen is the hardest position to break into the NHL. Trying to plug in youngsters with little experience is not wise. The likely scenario is that Miller or Johnson would have to be moved. But with NTC protections it would likely have to be to a contender and for picks.

Dont disagree with defensemen learning curve .. advantage for Tampa is Hedmen and Mc Donough with Mc Donough more important in new D development .. Cernek is classic case of Mc Dounough tutoring .. Cernek still lacks offensive skills but he a stud as a rookie and due to Mc Donough. Cernek will be "on his own" next year and probably pair with Sergachev who needs D zone help. Foote will slide into pair with Mc Mc Donough and the process begins again. Tampa may need someone to play with Hedmen .. a "boring" veteran like Rutta or a trade for Risto Faulk etc..reality is Tampa D scary for years to come.
