You have no arguement here that Karlsson is a top 5 defensemen in the world and he will get between 11.5 and 12 for the next 7 years. But consider this, for the next 7 years the Habs would have an over 30 million cap hit on 3 players close to or on the wrong side of thirty.

For a top D in his peak (28) I have no problem with that.
Weber can easily be traded in a few years to a non-cap team or one trying to rebuild and looking for leadership. His real salary gets ridiculous in a few years and at this point he might simply retire.
I have no problem at all with Price’s salary. Dominant no 1 goalies are extremely rare and I believe Price will be dominant for many years to come. I.e. Take away his month of november and he would have won the Veniza playing for a team with real bad D.

Yes he is. Watch him play. Look at what he's done. He's easily a top 5 in the world.

Dude reread my post, I was saying there is no arguement of just that, meaning i completely agree that he is one of the best. Lol

Oh Price and Weber are worth every penny and so would Karlsson at 12 mill, what I'm saying is in the cap era you can't spend over 30 mill long term on 3 players that age. If they are still young and only going to get better than sure. This team is supposed to be in the middle of a retool remember?

your wording needs a little bit of work then lol. by the sounds of it, you said that there is no argument that Karlsson is a top 5 d-man

Unless Montreal plans on trading Weber or Petry, Karlsson makes no sense.

Alright I see how my words could of been misconstrued let me set the record straight. FACT Erik Karlsson is one of the top 5 defensemen on the planet.

He could be traded for an upgrade on LD if the kids don’t deliver

Or you can actually fill a need and address the LD spot by signing gardiner for 1/2 the cost. Your current LD is not good!

The guy is just coming back from an injury ?. Maybe look at his whole body of work. Plenty of sites out there where you can look up stats.
