Trade with Carolina to get some cap relief

Created by: Willian_Cardoso
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 6, 2019
Published: Apr. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tampa obviously will have to relief some cap space. So, this trade makes a lot of senso to both teams. Tampa will need another top-4 RHS d-man and Faulk would be a very good fit for them. Foegele would be a good add as a young depth winger.

As for Carolina, Johnson would be a much top-9 versatile two-way player, who can help them in both ends of the ice and would bring them some score boost and speed to their game either. And Palat would bring them even more speed and some playmaking ability to their middle-6. So, it'd a win-win trade.
As for Fantanberg, I think he's a solid top-6 d-man, which can help specially in his own blue line.

No need for these kinda moves yet. Not until next off-season at least. @Shibbal18 posted a very good and realistic scenario where Callahan is actually bought out and there's still cap space to resign Point. Next off-season though they'll have to move about $7-$9M of cap space though. Check his out:

"The Hockey Central insiders look at the Board of Governors meetings and what the NHL discussed, including a potential 2020 World Cup and the rising salary cap. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is expecting an increase of the league's salary cap to roughly $83 million for the 2019-20 season."

So, in this case my scenario is more realistic than yours, cause in

he put the cap in 83.7M and the roster just have 21 players with 1.3M cap left.

Anyway, I think my trade is a good option for them. Their roster would still be strong.

I also said, to address his contract length concern, give him 3 years at 7-8 mill, gives TB more room

Johnson scores 28 goals. I think he still can create score chance and he's very good on defense as well. As for Palat, I think he need some fresh air to maybe play a better hockey. I think both teams could win with this one.

8M wouldn't change anything in Tampa's cap drama. Just 7M. But idk if Point wants a bridge contract, after a stunning season like that. If I were him, I'd ask an 8 year extention getting 8.5 or 9M.

Johnson is at .6 pts per game playing with Kuch and Point .. frankly that is almost impossible .. Kuch and Point combine for 220 plus points .. Johnson 50 pts are pathetic and he too small and defensive liability.. he 1st to trade if possible in my book .. why Tampa trying Joseph and Gourde recently on 1st lines.. anyone can be there

The team is a wagon and hes having a ton of success while living in Tampa. I think he'd be cool with a bridge deal to help keep his team at the top of the league tbh.

When you look at career numbers of Johnson, you can see that he's a good player. He's not on his top level anymore. But he surely could help a offensively weaker team, like Carolina. And I don't think he's a bad player defensively. He's a two-way fw and he can play as a penaly killer as well. He played a lot of time in this situation for Tampa. I think he's a tradeble player for them. But I disagree when you suggest that he's almost a useless player.

Maybe...but not everyone thinks more in cups than money. Like Sid, for example, who could get a McDavid type of salary when nobody else deserved not even close of that. We'll see if Point is that kind of player. He'll help a lot Tampa if he accepts a bridge contract indeed.
