Edmonton is currently #7 overall, The odds of them getting the #2 overall pick are slim to none. Detroit will be at #4 overall tonight after the bombing to Buffalo. Detroit has a greater chance of #2 then Edmonton has.

The value is there for sure but if I am the Oilers then there is no way I trade away Kakko to dump Lucic. You don’t trade a guy with that caliber to dump a bad contract ever IMO. Manning can be buried in the minors and his cap hit is insignificant for just the one year remaining.

lucic is a negative value so taking him would cost a 1st rd pick to start, oilers can keep him

Yeah, but you're not only getting rid Lucic and Manning, you're also getting a top 15 pick (one of Broberg, Heinola, Caufield, Suzuki, Lavoie, York, Newhook, etc.), a second, a top 6 winger with 50pts guarantee per year, a top 9 two way and young winger with a 20 goal season and a great dmen prospect who managed to put 23 points in 58 games in the AHL at 19-20 yo.

If Edmonton looses they are in the 6th spot.
if Edmonton wins or looses in OT they are in the 7th spot.
