I really doubt the Flames would spend a 2nd round pick on a declining Howard, not even with Pulkkinen thrown in.

Mrazek for $3,000,000? Why is he doing the Wings a favor like that? He's arb elibible no? With his career so far he's probably looking at $4 million or more in arbitration. If I was the Flames I'd look at signing him to an offer sheet of 5 years for $5.4 million per year before I ever even considered spending a 2nd on Howard. The 1st and 3rd round pick in 2017 would be much better spent on Mrazek than a 2nd in 2016 would be on Jimmy.

...and if the Wings match, well good luck doing the rest of what you've done here when you are spending $10.6 million per year on your goaltending for the next three seasons.

it's called a bridge deal pal. Dekeyser has the same thing. And offer sheets don't happen anymore. And Jimmy Howard was the reason the redwings got into the playoffs. You're talking nonsense.

Sorry Stevie, BurnEmUp is correct, on the value of Howard, the compensation for both goalies and Mrazek does have more power as an arbritration RFAs. Until the last collective agreement the compensation required for the signing of RFAs has lessened. GOOD RFAs in some cases might be paid close to a UFA. Leafs paid Reilly 5m, we'll see what Mckinnon of Colorado gets, in two years, McDavid isn't going to get a 4m bridge deal cause teams would put in offer sheets.
But the fact it Calgary can find good goaltending at better value than Howard's 5.3m and Colarado can find better Dmen at 4.25m than Ericsson.

Offer sheets happen. Niemi signed one with the Sharks in 2010, Weber signed one in 2012 with the Flyers, and O'Reilly signed one in 2013 with the Flames.

Also, that's nice that Howard is the one that got you guys to the playoffs. You should just keep him since he's so wondeful and we'll gladly take Mrazek instead haha.

PalHal and Burnem: I will bet money that regardless if you think you can find a goalie for less than 5.3.... He is still being traded for whatever type of return. Mrazek and Dekeyser will be signed to 2 year bridge deals as seen here, or they'll be signed to longer term around 4-5 million. jimmy Howard will be gone weather you like it or not

Wow this is just brutal. I agree with everyone else on here. Dekeyser, Marchenko, Mrazek and Sheahan are all being underpaid. As you stated above, they Dekeyser and Mrazek will probably sign long term deals for $4-5M. Stamkos should be $10.5M easily, Wings don't get a discount. Hudler isn't signing for $3M, he is staying around $4M for sure. Zatkoff would make more anywhere else. It looks like the only person not to take a discount to play for your team was Ladd. Howard's contract is a dump and Pulkkinen is maybe worth a 4th-5th round pick at best. So Calgary is not giving you a 2nd round pick for the combination. You might be right in that Howard moves, but NOT for a 2nd round pick. Way too many other goalies on the market. Why not use that 2nd round pick to obtain Fleury? Again, no chance the Calgary trade here happens as is. Same with Ericsson, he might be worth a 4th round pick at $2M. With a $4M+ contract, your selling him to Colorado. You probably have to give them a 4th rounder and ask for a 6th rounder in return. NO ONE WANTS CRAPPY CONTRACTS. You didn't here, so what makes you think these other teams are going to buy them off you? Anaheim and St Louis probably ask for a little more than what your offering, but your not too far off on those. You don't have any CAP room to make the correct deals here. You need at least another $5M.
