They can still get Cozens or probably the more likely pick Byram..

this of their future D core with Makar, Byram, Timmins, Girard, etc. -- and that's if they don't recoup any assets for Barrie or the rest of them

It did get quite annoying after awhile. I was just so tired of seeing the same jokes about the Senators continuously beaten into the ground.

Yeah, it is a bit ironic. Still a solid move though by COL. They should 100% draft Bowen. That defense would be crazy good in a few years.

The move essentially becomes Duchene for turris. And Ottawa swaps 4OA for 19OA. Everything else is a wash.

4OA gets you an elite player if you dont Fk it up, but not a franchise player like Hughes and Kakko.

I still remember the proposition I set up for nylander and the Ottawa first 1 for 1 before the season started. They said fair value was Matthews because the pick was hughes for sure lol.

I know... I tired explaining to people that 18.5% are terrible odds. People seem to think it was an automatic.

Now what are the odds that the 4OA is better than Nylander? 50/50 at best

What are the odds that the 4Oa is better than MAtthews? 0% hahahah

There’s a little bit more to it than that. If you loop CBus into the deal -

COL receives:
D Samuel Girard
F Shane Bowers
F Vladislav Kamenev
G Andrew Hammond
‘18 58th overall pick (traded down to #64 - G Justus Annonen & #146 - D Danila Zhuravlyov)
‘19 4th overall pick
‘19 3rd round pick

OTT receives:
F Vitali Abramov
F Jonathan Davidsson
‘19 1st round pick

NSH receives:
F Kyle Turris

CBJ receives:
F Matt Duchene

Yeah, I know! Good on Sakic in finding a 3rd party to take Turris. I don't why no one ever talks about the Turris for Kamenev, Girard and a 2nd part of the deal

They definitely talk about Girard lol. Kamenev has been a little unfortunate with back-to-back season ending injuries. Hammond was a cap dump that they got the 19 3rd rounder for, and then he ended up winning a playoff game.

The Ottawa/Colorado portion of the deal essentially breaks down to Duchene for Turris, Bowers, and a 1st rounder (what is now 4th overall). Even at the time, it was a pretty obvious overpayment to upgrade from Turris to Duchene. But there are two key points to keep in mind. 1 - Turris was a pending UFA and was struggling to agree on a contract extension with the Sens. 2 - Colorado's ask was for Chabot. The Senators had to overpay to get Duchene and keep Colorado away from Chabot

In retrospective, yes, Ottawa overpaid for Duchene. But when the deal happened, people from Ottawa were fired up, especially after coming off that long playoff run the year before.

Turris - He was starting to slow down when the deal was made. And now, you can really see how much he's dropped off since the trade. He's been a healthy scratch in NSH. That 6 years - 6 million contracts isn't looking so good I was a big Turris fan in his prime but I agree and understand why Ottawa wanted to move on with him. And Duchene >>>>>>>>>>> Turris and it wasn't even close.

Bowers was never a well sought out prospect in Ottawa. Maybe 9th on the prospect depth chart in 2017. Not sure how much he's progressed since. But he's always been an OK skater which doesn't really fit the "New NHL".

1st pick - Was expected to be in the 15-30th range. A 4OA is an absolute steal from Sakic. But, as a fan, we're just happy it's not 1-2 OA.

And yeah, I would have been devasted if the sens gave up Chabot.

Bowers, Sam Girard, Vladislav Kamanev this years 4th overall...its not a wash (still the 63rd overall this year and last years 2nd round pick) . Avs easily won that deal. Sens dont have Duchene, they have some late conditional draft picks sending him off to Columbs, and Turris is struggling in Nashville.

A wash....please

Okkkk... Thanks for summarizing the trade?

Also, Sam Girard, Vladislav Kamanev and 2nd are NSH assets

Abramov >>>> Bowers

So essentially we swapped 4OA for 19OA for 1.5 years of Duchene

You cant say its a wash with the Avs if you dont add the full picture of the trade. And in what world is Abramov already better than Bowers...magically in your mind with no context? Bowers has just started this pro career with the Eagles and Abramov had 29 points in 67 AHL games last year. THat is not a very impressive stat line and you will have to see what Bowers does in the AHL to even begin to compare the 2.

Lol Abramov put up monster points in the Q. He's super skilled and fast, just a little undersized. Took some adjustment to get used to the AHL. Most of his points came in the second half.

But alright, you keep holding on to Bowers who's projected to be a bottom 6 forward at best.

He put up moster points in the Q...but didnt do anythign in his first year of Pro Hockey...so thats relevant? Bowers projects to be a 2nd line C if he hits all his potential, if not he is going to be a3rd line C and thats good too. If you think Bowers is some sort of Key to the Avs trade....you are wrong. Girard alone was worth Duchene...everythign else is just cherry on top of cherries

I agree. Good pick up from Nashville.

And re-read what I wrote about Abramov, I don't feel like repeating my self
