I don't know if "more" is the right wording here; I think they'd want roster players over draft picks but that's hard to know without a GM in place.

With $6 mil off the books, they can now go get one in FA.

LMFAO, comparing Couts to RNH...now that is funny! You Oilers fans are hilarious! you don't want to trade anyone good but you want good players in return. You have ZERO depth and few good prospects. Getting $6 mil in cap space plus a good prospect makes a lot of sense for EDM. But hey, enjoy losing McDavid when you fail again next year!

Couple thoughts from a fellow Flyers fan:

1. Signing Talbot to that deal would be fine. Not great, since he's struggled the past two seasons, but fine for his purpose.

2. Provorov is probably a bit low dollars wise on an 8 year deal. I'd think he'll get 7M+

3. Sanheim and TK bridge deals are good and realistic, though maybe a tad bit high for both.

4. Send AMac to the AHL to save yourself some cap. Could buy him out too, but there's plenty of space without doing that.

5. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Winnipeg trade because I don't think Trouba is as big of an upgrade as most people seem to think. He gives up a lot of shots and scoring changes IIRC, which is kind of the opposite of what Fletcher wants. That's not to say Trouba isn't good, mind you; I just don't think he solves the problem.

6. Kind of doubt Frost makes the team out of camp, though I wouldn't hate it. Sending AMac down should give them like 4-5M in cap space, which could be used on a forward to play with Nolan and JVR.

7. I really, really hope we never have to see a Hagg-Gudas pairing again. It's painful to watch. Maybe just swap Myers and Gudas for the start of the year? I kind of hope they move Hagg, TBH.

I know it seems like I'm picking this apart, but this is one of the better ACGM posts on here and, while not a dream off-season, this seems somewhat realistic IMO.

Sure, but does 6M in space plus the 11th pick really help them immediately? Maybe, depending on the FA, but I would think they try to get a roster player (Dougie Hamilton or Ghost, for example ) in any move with RNH. Maybe that 6M helps them land a good FA, but the top-tier ones are going to cost more than 6M.

EDM needs depth, they could easily sign 2-3 roster players. Say a Donskoi, Tyler Ennis and another cheap 3rd liner.

There were my thoughts exactly. This man really suggests Ennis and Donskoi is worth losing RNH over. LOL

Care to expand on the Nugent Hopkins trade? It makes no sense from the Oilers side of things

EDM is terribly short on FWD depth and trading RNH for the 11th OV does nothing for them in the immediate future
RNH is worth more than the 11th OV
If a EDM PHI deal was to be had it would involve Philly moving up to 8 and EDM sliding back to 11

You could make it Dzingel instead and not be able to get a 3rd player, which is fine. At least Dzingel can skate with McDavid unlike anyone you have put at RW this year.

You don't seem to understand that you have next to no prospects. I guess I would be nervous about getting good picks as well since my organization has no clue how to develop players and kills their careers before they get started. Keep playing Kassian at 1RW...that will really make McDavid want to stay!

How is RNH worth more? He has 2 years left on his contract and only went over his normal scoring due to a massive bump from McDavid and Draisaitl on the PP. 55 point players are not worth top 10 picks.

Just because he is thier 3rd best player, doesn't mean he is worth more. Who is OTT's 3rd best player? Is he worth a top 10 pick?

RNH had 69 pts .... perhaps his elevated numbers are more based on him reaching his prime value despite being saddled to Lucic 5v5 all season
