What a steal. 20 PT 4th liner for 4 years at close to league minimum. You can't go wrong for that

That's as much of a steal as it gets. Holy smokes.

$750k AAV flat, with no bonuses? GMBM is the best GM in the league.

He gets security in terms of his paycheque for several years. It’s why he is willing to forego the chance do maybe have a better year and make more.

And in truth it makes sense. With his age and role, the odds are better that in 3 years he would be in the AHL, maybe on a 2-way deal if not an AHL-deal making less than half this amount) or our if North America (making even less) than the odds of him making 7-figures. Maybe he’s a “expect the best, plan for the worst” kinda guy. Some pros could be better served by signing long-term minimum deals, this is a great example.

Good signing for a good price. Dowd exceeded expectations this year and I like his toughness and grit. He can add some offense here and there too. Solid 4th liner to have locked up for a few years. Gives that 4th line some stability, which is good. Now all he needs are some decent 4th line wingers. Gersich and Barber might be it.

Waste of a roster spot, I would personally rather a young speedy Boyd at forth line center then Dowd.
