I agree in theory, but I wouldn't take a chance on Yakupov - he looks like a total bust. Especially not for Pouliot whose growth is slow but positive. We could find a reliable top 9 LW who can chip in 20 goals - otherwise that LW position is looking much too weak. Also, I'm not sure what you're doing trading an NHL top-10 goalie for nothing. Yes we want cap relief and he's expendable, but Fleury is on a reasonable contract and would get a good return - or am I missing something obvious?

If Murray is a cup winning goalie this year would you risk losing him to expansion draft next year? Fleury has a NMC and has to be protected, basically he's saying he'll take whatever he can get for Fluery (CGY or any team).

Sure Wabit, I get that and agree ... except... Fleury's a top 10 goalie on a reasonable contract. He's very tradable, and I think we could get a good top 9 forward for him at least, why not factor that into the roster?

Mainly because the trade value/team is unknown right now (the goalie market is really weak). You could keep Fleury or take the mystery box (it could even be a Fleury) laugh . He's taking the mystery box.

Trade Malkin and Fleury. They are not worth their cap hits. Are you watching the same playoffs that I am? Malkin is going to be 30 and is on the downside of his career. Trade him now while you still can get value for him. Get younger and faster. Prepare for the expansion draft. See Pens dynasty. That is the team the pens should have going forward.

Malkin has a Full No Mvt Clause so that's gunna be nearly impossible
