Off topic: If Marner won the Conn Smyth how does that affect his contract?

Go donate to themarnerjar.com for that comment.

Also: relax, it was one good game for game 1 of the first series.. jeez.

I think it's just the way they won. They really don't look like a young team anymore this being their 3rd year in the playoffs in a row.
They did what they needed to do, which was get ahead and then force boston to play their smaller less physical lines. The more they keep Marchand, Pasta, Krug on the ice, the less they have to worry about Boston physically beating them up. At that rate they are not only the faster team but they can be the more physical team as well. It's a good formula for them. They need to keep playing with the lead. Boston needs to make some line up changes. They need to add a banger to that top line and figure out how to get Chara off the ice because he's being exposed.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone talk about the Conn Smyth to a player after GAME 1 in a series they still probably won’t win lol

I'm not saying any of that isn't true. I'm saying it's the first game of the first round. So people need to chill about naming a Conn Smythe already. The whole team played incredible. But last year Caps lost their first 2 games and still won the cup. It takes a hell of a lot more than one game and people are already jumping to the conclusion and talking about Marner for MVP lol

The Leafs showed tonight why they're very capable of beating Boston in a playoff series so I wouldn't say that they for sure won't win it. But I agree, it's way too early for Conn Smythe talk.

I still think Boston is the slight favourite but leafs could 100% pull an upset. If they can win the next game and get bruins down 0-2 headed back to Toronto that would be incredible... huge win tonight for the boys in blue. I’d love to see them make a deep run

I think Toronto is the favorite in this series. I don't think Boston can match their depth. I don't care what the regular season says. They are just so much faster. If boston is playing catch up in games it ruins any chance they got because Pasta, krug and the little rat just aren't big enough to punish Toronto on the boards and those will be the players they are relying on to even up the score when they shorten the bench.

Fair enough. I thought Toronto was the favourite vs Boston midway through the season before the bruins got on fire and the leafs hit a wall. Like you said regular season doesn’t matter. Leafs can role 3 great lines. That’s a nightmare for anyteam to match. Just like pens in 2016

They're both 100 point teams and top 7 in the league. Hard to call one a "favourite" either way. Both are very capable of winning. Should be a hell of a series

And the guy who brought it up is a Wings fan.

He had a good game and the idea just popped in my head. Plus we just don't talk enough about The Leafs cap situation so you see I had to ask.

Well hypothetically speaking if leafs won the cup and Marner won the Conn Smyth, he would get PAID. Guys get paid just based off playoff performance. Look at Bickell on Chicago.
