Description
Florida trade opens up more cap room for them to sign Panarin and Bobrovsky

Nurse and Vrana have both had good seasons. No real reasoning behind this one except for I like the idea of Vrana in Edmonton and I think the value is similar between him and Nurse. Adds youth to Capitals back end I guess and I think their offence is strong enough to lose Vrana.

Kapanen gets moved for cap reasons. EDM 2nd is a high second, Ethan Bear has had a strong AHL season and Kassian adds some toughness to Leafs bottom six. Could definitely see Toronto looking to move Kapanen for an established dman instead though.

EDIT: YAMAMOTO instead of 4th ROUND PICK
RNH gives Colorado a very strong top 6 and they can still add a high prospect at 8th overall. They also have Makar coming up on the right side that could potentially take over for Barrie's role. Barrie gives EDM a top offensive dman. Drafting Byram gives them strong prospect depth on D with him, Bouchard, Jones.

Vrana and Kapanen given identical 4 yr 4M deals.

Hoffman and/or Barrie could be flipped at the trade deadline if EDM doesn't look like a playoff contender.

EDM is still tight on cap space but after the season they would lose Gagner, Manning contracts which opens 4.325M for Barrie and Hoffman raises. Also, if they can move Sekera and Russell next offseason (they'd both have one year left) they could potentially open up another 9.5M

Your not going to move up from 8 to 4 in that trade. Barrie for RNH one for one is even questionable.

They were both made on crack. My bad that **** hits hard.

But no in all honesty I’m not very high on yamomoto and originally just had a 4th round pick in there instead of him. And like the guy above said, gotta overpay to move up in the draft. Yamomoto definitely has value but I don’t see him panning our in the NHL. Would be more than happy to eat my words on that though.

I think the Washington trade is pretty fair value. Young tough middle pairing right hand D for a good young top 6 forward. Though I don’t think Washington would have interest in moving Vrana whether it was fair value or not.
