Whoever suggests Carey Price is the best goalie after finishing outside the top 10 in GAA and Save% is a total fool. Factor in his terrible contract and he really shouldn't be worth a fortune. This is a nice way of saying "you're stuck with him" and "Enjoy purgatory because you'll never be bad enough to get the top picks and your team won't be good enough to contend for a cup without them lol"

Holy macaroni ! The only relevant stats is players evaluate players . 30% Of Nhl players believe Price is the best .. McDavid is also well rated among his peers ...

Price WAS the best a couple years ago. He hasn't lived up to that billing the past 2 seasons. People usually vote for who's got the best reputation and Price WAS brilliant for a long stretch over 2 years ago. Now he's not that great, if he was maybe his team would have made the playoffs considering he plays the most important position on the ice lmao.

So your opinion prevail to the 600 players playing the game ? Ok , you won . 30 teams doesn't even wanna sniff the possibility of having Price i got it now , ty . Happy ?

The best you’re going to get is a young goalie, a 2nd, a good-great prospect and a good-decent prospect for Price(1.5-2.5 retained). Plus without price you might as well trade Weber and any other older player on your team and go for a total rebuild around Kotkaniemi and Mete.

You better be ready to retain about $2M and take a bad contract with a little less term back. His contract hurts his value a lot. Lundqvist is better than him and only making $8.5M

Price had a rough start to the season. First 20 games had a .898 save%. Brutal.

Afterwards, Price was back to his old self. .926 save% in 46 games (just as much games as most goalies in the top 10 in save%).

Price isn’t for sale. His cap hit doesn’t hurt the Habs at all, #1 goalies like Bobrovski over the next few years will be getting bigger deals than Price, so his contract will become the norm. Only thing that stings a little is the term of his deal.

UKP. Ill take Hutton at 2.75 and improve the defense around him instead of spending 1/8 of my cap on a goalie. Goalies are never worth spending more than 6 mill on

And that’s why BUF will continue to be at the bottom of the standings.

Carey Price took on all comers and was THE league's most dominant goalie in 2019. The only question is whether that was a last hoorah or a sign that he has figured out the Luongo/Brodeur/Roy formula for success. We'll know next year.

Meanwhile, if Montreal were even willing to do this, they'd be able to hold back $3M or more of the contract (it's not like Montreal would attract any UFAs without him) at which point all those guys whining about his contract can stop spouting lame excuses.

No playoffs = No playoffs and you already have Carey Price in his prime which is the crux of this arguement

Carey contract included 30 M around this year and the next one , his contract his actually tradable after .. He is indeed a special player and i don't like the idea of not having him , i just like to gage how much people don't realize his true value .

Who said build around Hutton. Hutton, Ullmark, UPL, who cares, goalies are dine a dozen. The Hasek era is over. The best goalie in the playoffs rn costs 1/10 of what Price does

This is exactly my point ! Imagine the Flyers with Price or any ELITE goaltending .. Buffalo can finish bottom 5 as much as they can , they won't get far without a goalie . We won't ship it to you even for a king ransom so don't worry , but if i we're u i would spend a lot for the exact part that is missing ... anyway agree to disagree .

Youre point is that you need a good goalie. I didnt say you dont need a good goalie. My point is you dont need to spend 10.5 million to get or keep a good goalie.

Your point was that 30 teams are not interested . Keep it on Buffalo ! Alexis Lafreniere will fit right in .

I'd take Price at about $3-4 million less than his current AAV. I would much rather spend on a defense core that can make my goalie's look better than they are (i.e. Minnesota, NY Islanders, etc.) than have to worry about the most unpredictable position saving my season and bailing out my team. Price is a great goalie and looked like he returned to form after a terrible 2017-18 season and is likely far from being finished, but he's just too expensive.

Trade are always a comptability performance nowadays . Of course if Price is exchange to a contender next summer for example , it would make sense to retain since is departure would be to rebuild from scratch

Won't a team that has needs goalie but 100 times better off signing a UFA like Bob or Lehner for less money and keep their assets than trading for Price?
