Description

Thinking they need to get better. With $15 M worth of contracts coming due next year, they will be in a good position to trade with teams looking to avoid a Seattle expansion loss.

Unloading Lucic perhaps is the dream that won’t happen - and the plan falls apart without it - but thats why this post is called questionable.

Other assumptions- Ceci refuses to sign in Ottawa, Nylander has to be kiced to make cap space, and Brown and Sekera wave their NTC.

As I said - some questions there . If Lucic thinks he can still play then maybe he waives it. Brown maybe waives to go to a team that isn’t rebuilding - maybe. Again - a lot of MAYBEs.

As I mentioned above - this would be a trade if they cannot resign Ceci who for whatever reasons decides he wants out. The Sens have made worse trades.

On a rebuilding team, a 34 year old usually isn’t untouchable. This has been a good year but he’s struggled in the past. Kings need to add picks, free up cap space. It’s a big maybe - granted and they might be able to do better - but then I couldn’t have him on this team!

Top line D, bottom pair (or future top 4 D) for 30 goals and 90 point a year isn’t that lopsided. Larsen so good and Bear is a good prospect. But Nylander has potential to give McDavid an elite, fast winger who can set him up and let Draisatl lead the second line of attack. A calculated risk - but I can see why that might not work out for both teams. IMO Nylander has to be moved because Leafs can’ afford Marner and other RFas with it.
