Team: 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 5, 2016

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Detroit: based off of idea from Shibbal. Detroit needs to shed salary badly and buffalo has a lot of cap room. Detroit moves on from Howard who will come to buffalo as the 1B goalie to get his career back on track. They also make a tough decision to move Mike Green and he becomes the PPQB the Sabres want and they also move a young NHL-ready prospect. Buffalo moves Moulson to hopefully bounce back after a horrid season and he can help add scoring depth and will be a good teacher for Detroits many young forwards. Detroit gets Foligno for a cheap power forward who found himself seemingly this year, a young stat-hound in Mark Pysyk who never found himself here, a good forward prospect who may a year from NHL, and a draft pick. Deal will save Detroit ~4 million.

Edmonton: everybody has seen this deal by now lol. Buffalo gets a former 1st overall who has to have a good season to keep his career going.

Columbus: Girgensons reportedly wants out so Columbus takes a good middle-six center. They send buffalo a strong veteran in Hartnell and a draft pick. Saves Columbus some money to resign some key free agents like Seth Jones

Buffalo drafts Chychrun and he gets his 9-game stint but then is sent back to OHL

I quite like it but 2 probs: 1. that Howard contract is really going to hurt you when you need to up Eichel and Reinhart's contracts. 2. Yakupov is worth the gamble but is more than likely a bust, so you probably wind up being very weak down the RH side, especially if Ennis or Reinhart end up needing to play C because of injury or Richards struggling.

Once eichel and Reinhart need extensions, Howard will have one year on his deal and I think you could easily move that with retained salary (who knows, he could be our starter too.) For Yak, I think his biggest problem is not getting a chance in top 6 because oilers are stacked with players like him. Get him in a good system on a line with defensively responsible ROR and I think he could thrive. Buffalo could also call up Cal Oreilly or Schaller for center and I think can keep Reinhart and Ennis in wing
