Offloading Alzner

Created by: MTLGM
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 1, 2019
Published: Apr. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NJ has over 35 mil in cap space (granted cap is 83 mil) with only Butcher as a notable RFA.

No idea what else to do to be honest regarding a LD, or big Free Agent signing. And I would jump into anything so quick. We'll have Domi to resign, and soon enough Gallagher, Danault, Kotkaniemi..etc

Why is Montreal doing this though? isn't the goal when offloading players to get cap space to sign other players? If you aren't signing any big names, than what was the point in losing quality picks to get rid of Alzner? Just let him play AHL or buy him out.

Agreed. This makes no sense. If you want to make room on the roster, just buy him out. Otherwise, he has been a good leader/mentor in Laval and he's probably not a bad guy to have around in case the Habs ever need playoff help. As you can see, the whistles go away come the playoffs, so Alzner's ability to handle the crush in front might someday be useful again. In the meantime, he seems OK with his AHL fate.

Good points. But kind of explained it in the description.
1. Just purely posted as an idea, given NJ is a potential suitor with over 35 mil in cap space.

2. Not sure what MB should do in regards to top players available.

Of course would be a great move to free up even more cap space to acquire talent.
