Please, guys, stop with the Marleau trade-and-buyout scenarios. It's damaging our credibility.

You seem to not be one of those tools who think Marleau can be traded, so I have question?
Can you trade salary retention? For example tradin 50% of a players salary.

I assume that the word "tools" is a translation or maybe an auto-correct error. The answer to your question is No.

No you can not, you can also not trade a player back for 1 year after salary has been retained.

The only way Marleau is traded is if he retired IMO.

It’s all good, you’re the sharpest tool in the shed.

Well thats unfortunate cause that would have been a crappy way to save cap room.

It’s a great problem to have... for once Toronto doesn’t have a lot of dead weight.

I agree and Marleau is still a good player he is just getting paid way too much. I would take him over many players if you put aside salary and only considered skill and value.

He brings a lot on and off the ice. It is unfortunate that it interferes with our cap but I think he is a guy who’s net worth is still 6m.

I was thinking 4mil, but when the leafs first signed him he was a 6mil player for 1year.

10 points less doesn’t diminish his off ice prescience. He is a true pro and a gentleman. Hopefully all of the young leaf players take as much away from Vet like that as possible.
