Dont Panic and Over-Correct

Description
The 2016-2017 Blackhawks rode great goal tending and a stellar overtime record to a first place finish in the west that they, frankly, didn't deserve. They went cold at the end of the season and ran into a hot Nashville team who spanked them.

As a result, they made some knee jerk decisions that were an over correction (shipped out Panarin and Hjalmarsson) that they would probably like back.

Tampa, please don't do the same! You have a great team. Just take your lumps and come back humbled and hungry next year.

Some salary will need to be moved for Point. Picked Chicago as a good partner since I am a Hawks fan and would love to upgrade the 2nd rounder. Could be a similar deal to be had with lots of other teams that can swallow Callahan's cap hit for a year.

Tampa fans, I had to trade one of Killorn or Gourde so I picked Killorn as the odd man out. Let me know if there's another player who would be a better fit to be traded away for cap space. Johnson likely would have a lot of value on the market, but I wouldn't trade him if I didn't have to.

Couple differences .. Chicago won 2 cups .. Tampa lost 3-2 leads in last 2 years conference finals .. not to mention this historic choke this year. I appreciate your comment but not apples to apples. Sometimes teams NEVER get over hump until a mini blow up occurs and leadership is issue here, wasn't in Chicago.

What corrective action would you take? A quick glance through your recent posts seems to hang a lot on Stamkos, who was nearly a point-per-game player in last year's playoffs. Even if you could magically swap him for Connor McDavid, I'm not sure that would be enough to counteract injuries happening at the worst time of the season.

Leadership change .. Cooper or Stamkos .. Stamkos a MINUS 5 this playoff after being a minus most of this year .. 5 on 5 stat .. other issue is we WAY too small and scrawny .. only 2 forwards over 200lbs and they on 3rd/4th line .. team is constricted and cultured for regular season .. Chicago with their guys never had these issues

It's a different league now. It's getting smaller, faster and more skilled. Plus every single defensemen is over 200 except Stralman, which is half their team! Trying to make everyone big is what got the Oilers into their mess. Wouldn't you want an 18:00 per night player to be the most skilled guy you could find? And you can't possibly say that a third round exit is a choke. That's so hard to do in this league, especially three times in a row. Granted, losing the 3-2 leads is a choke, but the Capitals were notorious for Game 7 losses, and they eventually got over it by sticking with the same core and learning from their mistakes. I know it's frustrating, I'm pissed too, but just be patient.

Oh yeah, this year is 100% a choke. No questions asked. But their past performances shouldn't contribute to that label of "chokers". They have won a lot of playoff games, and have even shown they can win under pressure, like Game 7 against Boston last year. It's not as simple as "winners win, losers lose". There's a learning curve that comes with facing adversity, and three conference finals and a President's Trophy can make a team get a bit too comfortable with the status quo. Ovi didn't get his cup until he was 32 after the Caps choked on two President's Trophy seasons. That was the Caps' wake up call, and this sweep is the Lightning's. Stamkos is 29 and doesn't show signs of slowing. They can do this, just be patient.
