Ok.
I know a lot of you are going to hate the trades. However, you have to remember that the Pittsburgh Penguins' core is now on the wrong side of 30. Of course Crosby and Malkin still have a lot of great seasons ahead of them. They might be elite to franchise players until 40 years old.

So, knowing that, and knowing that teams like Buffalo, Montreal, Philadelphia are on the rise, I think it's time for the Pens to start a rebuild.

Trading Kessel and Letang hurts for the present, but Merkley and Speers might become good players in 1-2 years. Vatanen is a good number 3 defenseman and Crouse is a good 3 liner. Plus, they get a few great picks for the next few drafts.
