I dont think soderbergs contract is bad. he had one bad season on a historically awful Avs team 2 years ago and now everyone underrates him. he scored nearly 50 points this season while playing a defensive role and playing on the PK. maybe he isnt worth 4.75M but I dont think its very far off, especially with only 1 year remaining

Same thing as Boston, they really don't have many bad contracts, his is probably 2nd worst if you had to pick.

LOL the Islanders have more cap space than any other non-wild card team in the playoffs and have one of the lowest overall...but BAD?
Meanwhile Dallas (cap pressed) is ranked as one of the BEST?
How on Earth is Carolina not the second best after Florida?
Do you seriously think that Hjalmarsson, de Haan and Ekblad are bad contracts? I thought it was a joke

Arizona, Florida, and Carolina all have almost no bad contracts, but I was taking two from every team.... And you could probably argue that both Ekblad and Hjalmarsson are both a little overpaid.

And NYI still have a handful of bad contracts that will start to hurt once they sign their younger players. Boychuck, Ladd, Komarov, (could argue Cizikas, Clutterbuck, and Martin too but they had a good series against Pitt). Once they have to sign Barzal, Lee, Pullock, Pelech, Lehner, Beuavillier they will realize that some of those contracts are bad...

He’s a good player. A couple more years at 7.25 is fine. Meanwhile Moore has been relegated to the 7th d man and he’s 4 years left

As for Dallas:
Benn @9.5 is decent value (had down year)
Seguin @9.85 is pretty good value
Klingberd @ 4.25 is an absolute steal
Bishop @ 4.9 is an absolute steal

Just with these four players I would say they are probably saving 6-8 million compared to their market value. And more importantly, once Spezza leaves, you could argue they don't have a single bad contract.

Rask contract is awful, but I'd argue against the Parise/Suter contracts right now. Suter can still eat minutes and play at a high level and when Parise is healthy he has been our best forward. In 3-4 years from now, I could see them being really bad, but for now they are fine.

Ranking New Jersey 9th seems like a stretch, and you give no examples. Only two I can think of are Schneider and maybe Zajac, everyone else has a very reasonable cap hit and they have a ton of salary cap space to go after Free Agents and resign guys like Hall, Hischier and Hughes / Kakko long term.

Thanks for the list. You'll always get opinions. Don't think the Leafs should rated that highly. Two long term contracts making too much....Nylander and Matthews. 1.2m Kessel's retention. Marleau 6.25m contract this year and next.

Yes, there's no arguing against the Marleau contract, but I am pretty sure everyone knew that 3rd year was gonna be ugly. As for Matthews and Nylander, maybe both slightly overpaid based on this season's performance, but its not hard to imagine then bouncing back to their production from first couple of years and continuing to grow to make those contracts look pretty good. Aside from this, Reilly and Andersen could be two of the best contracts in the league.
