DAL easily declines. We can just put Hanzal to LTIR, we have no need for MacDonald. He'd be just $5M wasted.

It nets the franchise a prospect with Top 9 potential, and saves Dallas some money if they choose to buy MacDonald out, or they can put him on the bottom line since there are gonna be some holes due to free agents. They could just as easily accept, its 50/50.

Umm how exactly buying out saves money if DAL just puts Hanzal in the LTIR? They get free cap space by that.

MacDonald is of zero use, wouldn't even be a reserve D in DAL, and Twarynski is not tempting enough sweetener to dump MacDonald in any team.

It saves them actual money not cap hit. And if you use MacDonald to replace Lovejoy or Polak he’s basically equivalent. Polak has 9 pts,+6 in 77 games, MacDonald had 9pts, -9 in 47. MacDonald also had a worse goaltender in almost all of his games played, while Polak had Khubodin and Bishop.

Hanzal for basically wasted cap space and an AHL player (potential 4th liner)
Wennberg for a AHL player (potential bottom six), and goalie who's struggled in the NCAA, and a mid round pick.
Kapanen for a LTIR player, an AHL player (potential bottom six), a bottom six Dman, and a late round pick.
Miller for NCAA player who's entering their senior year and could go to UFA and a mid round pick.

Going to need to better.

Polak is there not score points, he's there to keep people out of Stars' goal. He's a 240lbs bulldozer. I'd gladly keep him around rather than waste a year on MacDonald.

Besides DAL doesn't really need to save actual money. They're in good position financially speaking.

I'd recommend moving MacDonald to a team that needs help to get closer to the cap floor.

DAL just has 0 use for him. There isn't a slot for him.

I understand what your saying, I’m not saying they have to go out and get him, or that it’s likely, but it is a possibility. Also, depending on what happens to Lovejoy and Polak as free agents Dallas might need a couple of Dmen.
