Way too many pieces involved here on both sides.

Hanifin wont be included. Young, good d are hard to come by. Price's anchor of a contract and being over 30 won't get Hanifin in any deal, especially if 1 of Andersson or Valimaki are probably to be involved.

The other pieces that you have going to Calgary are just scraps and not worth anything really. Juulsen's obviously the most attractable asset, but with his injury concerns and if he was healthy he'd just be a Andersson replacement, it doesn't really add value.

All in all, Calgary declines and the value need to be increased for them to make it.

I've looked into a price for Price a few times and can only conclude that he's untradeable. Not because of his contract as most suggest, but because the return will never warrant it.
Montreal has nobody behind Price ready for a starting role. His value is too high to them for the return teams normally get for goaltenders.
If we're talking expected value, Hanifin and a decent pick (20-40 range) is about the most I would expect to get. Warm bodies could be included in either direction, but nothing that really moves the needle.

Elite goaltenders don't get traded unless there is a problem of some sort and a new potential starter lined up. That reduces their value. If they are young, you're doing well to get a 1st rounder. If they are older and/or approaching UFA status, the typical return is much less.

Halak was 25 and moved for a 1st and 3rd (Eller and Ian Schultz) when he was outperforming Price. Eller was a 13th overall pick.
Schneider was 26 and moved for a 1st, the 9th overall pick (Horvat).
Goaltenders that have been usurped as the starter around 30 or older, normally don't bring much of a return. We're talking warm body + middling pick.

There's not much precedent for trading an elite goaltender with a long term contract. Even less for a contract of unprecedented value for a goaltender. I'm willing to bet that's because GMs aren't willing to give up what it would take to acquire them.

Calgary wouldn’t even look at this deal. I’m sure they would like to move out some bad contracts but there are other ways to do that without trading valuable future pieces.
