Why sign Ferland and stick Frost on the 4th line? Why pay Bellemare to sit in the pressbox? I'd rather pay Duchene $2 mil more than Hayes.

I like the thought trading Vorachek for long term cap relief so you can sign a UFA (even if it isn't Hayes)

Vorachek will out score hayes and ferland added together. I get the logic but too much for hayes. hes a 50 pt guy and ferlands a banger with a little offense. Not sure youre better with them than just him.

Voracek is too old relative to Vancouver's core, hasn't scored more than 25 goals, and is over paid. No thanks from Vancouver

That’s an awful lot of money for Hayes. Brace yourselves for cap hell in the near future.

Why? How much is he worth? $5.5 or $6? So a $1 million overvaluation causes cap hell?

Hayes is a center and this past season he's pushing towards being a 60 point guy pace wise. He's defensively responsible and gives the Flyers 2 shut down centers. It might even free up Couturier to focus on scoring even more. Ferland is a 40 point 20-20 guy providing legit 2nd/3rd line scoring to the lineup. There's hope that Frost will bring scoring but you never know what a rookie might bring. The top 6 isn't as good without Voracek but the over lineup is better. Significantly better at defense, slightly less good at offense in the top 6 but better offensively throughout the entire lineup. The team above is very good and should contend.

Worth about 5.5 million so giving him 7 million for that long, and having to pay your younger players more when time comes, you could potentially have a bad cap situation. But yes, it was an overexaggeration

He's a UFA so he's going to get overpaid. He'll only be 27 in year one of the new deal. 5 or 6 years should be fine. He's a late starter as well. He doesn't have 82 game seasons logged on his legs since he was 18.

First the 4th line is very talented and could be just as good as the 3rd. That team above could easily just roll lines all season. Frost can move up and down as he shows what he can do. The team has cap space so I overpaid a reserve in Bellemare. Most importantly, I don't know for sure that Frost or Farabee can make the team. So Bellemare and Raffl could be on the 4th line. I made a lineup based on an ideal opening night lineup. But as a GM and one thing Hextall can be absolutely faulted for was not having a fall back plan if the rookies were not as far along in development as hoped. Fletcher has said he wants more legit NHL players on the roster to start and sub in. So no more Corban Kight or Phil Varone unless a disaster strikes.

As for Duchene or Hayes? I prefer Hayes. He'll be cheaper for less years allowing more lineup flexibility. I also think Hayes provides a good fit for this team. He would help allowing the rookies more time to grow in the AHL if necessary. Frost and Farabee may both be ready next season but one might be ready in December and the other in March. It's not always day 1 of the regular season as we've seen before with Hart, Sanheim, and Ghost.

I can garuantee you that when Hayes gets signed to a contract he won’t be getting 7 million

Okay. He completed his best season to date and was already making $5.5 million. So you're saying a 27 year old UFA won't get a $1.5 million raise. I think he'll get 7 but won't get 7 years.

'little offense' lmao. Hes a 25 goal scorer if he can stay healthy the whole season.

It is laughable. When he says scoring I assume he means Voracek will put up more points. He's really about a 20 goal guy capable of 60+ assists. He's a nice player and I don't buy the albatross of a contract debate. I just think he's someone the Flyers can move and get assets to address defense while freeing up cap space to address center as well. It allows Konecny a top 6 role and the Flyers can find a cheaper 3rd line wing option with their remaining cap space. The Flyers have a lot of young wing depth up and coming so they'd be dealing from a position of strength.

He's not that old and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. You're acting like he's 33 or 34 with 5 years to go. He should be fine to be his normal high value playmaker for the duration of his contract. He's not the greatest of shooters nor is he the fastest of skaters. He has great awareness of where the open man is and makes it look effortless. That type of high skill player typically lasts well into their 30's.

I don’t know what the term will be but money-wise it will be between 5.5-6.25 million. 7 million is just a stretch imo.

My bad. I meant you are wrong about how much money he will get, but the duration of his contract depends on which team is signing him. Probably 4 or 5 years though
