If Panarin signes with the blues, I would not put him and Tarasanko on the same line because personally I would want to spread the scoring not all one one line. So I would put Schwartz with O'rielly and Tarasanko then Panarin, Schenn and Thomas. That would be a great top 6

As a Leafs fan, I didn't realize Steen had declined so much. I guess the decline comes for us all. I have always regretted that trade. He's had a great career in St Louis. Is he still a good two way forward? ie would you want him if he was making 1.5-2 million?

" I guess the decline comes for us all." Hey, speak for yourselfsmile You're correct one of the worse traded ever. Under Cliff Fletcher, a young Steen and Carol Coviacco? for Lee Stempniak. (Pardon the spelling). Horrid. The Leafs had years of the worse GMs.....Quinn, Fletcher (his second short term go around) Ferguson. Burke and Nonis.

He isnt bad he is just making too much. This was the only way to sign Panarin and not be over the cap

He has almost no speed at all any more, not that he was a blazer in his younger days. He's still excellent defensively and can shoot it a little. In the speed/transition game the modern NHL has become, he's simply not suited for it. He still thinks the game about as good as one can, which is what helps him make up for his agility issues. To answer your question, "Would I take him if his cost was only $1.5 million?" My answer on this current Blues team is "no." However, a team like Ottawa, New Jersey, even Toronto...teams with a bunch of young, speedy wingers, he'd likely be a great fourth line veteran that could really help teach the game correctly to the youngsters. I say fourth line because it would give the coach opportunities to scratch him when a faster checker would be appropriate depending on the opponent. If he wants to, I would argue he'd make a good coach.

Fair enough. It'd be a shame to see him bought out to end his career in st Louis as he's been great for you guys for what I'd guess has been about a decade. But it's a business and the blues have to do what's best for them. Still be a shame though...
